K1N - Navassa Island. Most wanted # 1

At the time one of the major and most expected dxepedition of the last decades is turning over and I start missing his heavy pileups. I’m even missing the excitement for a QSO which possibly comes "once in a life". Since I started the dxcc I never thought over Navassa as a difficult country and never understood why it becomes so hard to get a permit from USFW. Anyhow, the DX community didn't expect to see it coming anytime soon and as statement many asked for deleting the country. But.. something happens and Navassa becomes real giving good hopes for other impossible entities which at the moment seems to be only a dream. I will remember all my life long one of the most difficult and not expected qso , the one with K1N on 80mt. I was pretty sure I could made it from 10 through almost 40 but never expected to break the wall on 80. That was a kind of "be in the right place at the right time", dedication and little bit of strategy. The inverted L worked well but most important my hear made the dream come true... that ghostly signal coming and leaving and hit by static qrm, for a short time becomes readable enough to let me hear my call getting back with the 599... HA7RY pick my call and I don't know how, great!. I didn't expected it but anyhow I tried and magically what I felt impossible becomes true. With Navassa I made it from 80 through 10 and that makes me proud of it. I think that all of us, avid DX chasers have felt that excitement when putting the first qso on the log. See you on the next pileup.
